Prostoria is a Croatian furniture design and manufacturing company, established in 2010. In just 6 years they become prominent player in the European furniture market. The company is known for its innovative design approach and its collaboration with top designers. They place a high value on craftsmanship and the quality of their products.
CONTEXT
A stand-alone object or modular system intended for work from home. The minimal requirements are a place for a laptop and a place for storage things. Preferred materials are wood, solid or veneered, or lacquered MDF; to expand the product range to the segment of solid-wood furniture and achieve capacity in the new production facility.
THE OBJECTIVE
The concept of SecretArea is a contemporary interpretation of secretaire based on its historical typology, derived from our research of homeoffices, needs, and habits of users, the atmosphere and the feelings - the essential elements of any successful design.
SecretArea was conceived as an object that stands in space free monolithic, but lightweight. Work surface combined with an organization screen shaped in the form of a cocoon reflects the product core concept – flexible and dynamic organization system where interaction between object and the user is amplified.
It stands in space free with an almost sculptural appearance –– an object that is space itself within itself.

Design Process
BEHINED THE SCENES
SecretArea is a team work, design created in the good collaboration of two product designers, graphic designer and wood technician.
The prototype was created within the project Practicing Design in cooperation with Croatian Designer Association, Vern University and Prostoria company, and co-founded by the Erasmus+ Program of European Union.
SecretArea received an undisputed professional recognition confirmed with the 4 international awards:
Golden Plaque on Design Plus Ambienta fair Zagreb 2017, Mixer Festival in Belgrade, Conference People, Wood, Furniture 2017 and ULUPUDUS Belgrade 2017
